Switch's President & CEO Darren Hokanson started out in business by sitting in board rooms as a child while his late father Paul Hokanson (an owner of PTI Group and later Infosat) conducted meetings and ran his companies. It is no surprise that a little bit of this entrepreneurial spirit rubbed off.
Darren co-founded Switch in 2005 and wore multiple hats while the business grew in a new, fast-paced market. Darren’s drive to further advance communications in the rapidly growing Oil & Gas sector was a topmost priority in order to deliver the services that Switch’s clients were demanding. His personal involvement and input into the growth of Switch resulted in success that was definitely earned.
Darren continues to be actively engaged in the development of new products and services, either creating them in house or sourcing directly with suppliers. With phone, internet, and television services at its core, Darren quickly expanded Switch's offerings to include wholesale partners, large telecommunications providers (such as TELUS and Intelsat) and governments.
Darren’s vision and insight into existing and new markets for telecommunications drives his desire to steer the company in the right direction and far into the future.
Aaron Hokanson is the Chief Operating Officer at Switch and has been with the company full-time since January of 2012. Previous to joining Switch in a full-time capacity, he provided advertising and marketing services to Switch in a freelance capacity by leveraging his 15 years of experience as a marketing and advertising professional (which included working for award-winning advertising agencies).
Aaron’s father, Robert Hokanson, and grandfather, Ernest Hokanson, were both heavily involved in the Western Canadian Oil & Gas sector through their many enterprises, the former co-founding HoFam Catering, which joined with Peace Trailer Industries in the early 1980s to form PTI Group, which was recently re-branded as Civeo Corporation. Aaron’s pedigree has played a major role in his development as an entrepreneur and business leader. This background, combined with his formidable technical expertise and work ethic, makes his role as an executive in a telecommunications company a natural fit.
